AND.... They had the inevitable big crash too, with Micheal Waltrip going airborne... watch for the complaints now about restrictor plates again.

Yeah, I don't think the BIG ONE will ever go away. Waltrip took a wild ride. The Big complaint all week was the tires. But the tires didn't seem to be that big of problem today. At least for JR:D
Yeah, he still has to run the post poned busch race in the morning, that he is also leading. Go Jr.

It's great that he got the proverbial "when you gonna win the 500" monkey off of his back. It's just too bad he's driving a Chevy instead of a FORD!

If Jr. had been driving a Ford he wouldn't have won. Heh Heh Heh

I think Nascar gave Jr. the resrictor plate with the BIG holes in it and let him keep it for the Busch race. It was the same plate they gave him in the July 01 Daytona race when he won. Nextel Cup racing is going the way of Pro Wrestling. LOL
Alls I have to say is that JR. could win if he was driving a VEGA! DEI has for sure has got their act together, they for sure have a top notch operation. There shop is magnificant, I was fortunate enough have a tour of the facilities by a good friend who works for them. You should see the Engine Department, WOW! You could perform surgery on the floors in there!!! No wonder they are contenders week in & week out...
It's funny but I also pull for the #12 Penske car. Mr Newman is another force to look out for!!!

Note that Jr. and his partner Micheal win mostly on the restrictor plate tracks, ware Nascar installs Nascar owned restrictor plates. Its possible then to alter the H.P. of any car they want. Jr. is the hot guy right now, and the stands are a sea of red #8 hats, so the France familys wants to give the fans what they want. Nextel cup is mostly entertainment now, with well paid drivers risking their necks for superhero fame and big bucks. If they want real racing they should downsize the cubic inches or make the catch fences safer to protect the fans, and let the cars run wide open like in the good old days. Just my opinion.

NASCAR doesn't install the plates. The teams buy and install them, and they have to make spec in post race inspection.
There's no secret to DEI restrictor cars except detailed preparation. DEI maintains a totally separate operation devoted solely to development of restrictor plate racing, and it pays off for them.
I really don't think it's fair to accuse NASCAR of WWE style management. They try to keep makes approximately equal, and will adjust a make up or down if need be, but they don't pander to individuals or teams.
If you want to see that sort of thing, look no further that Unlimited Hydro racing, where the variability of hulls, budgets and crew skills has forced management to regulate individual teams' fuel consumption from race to race, and choose start lanes for the boats before heats...THAT'S management.

Ths fact is that DEI cars can and do win on about any kind of track. They dominate on the restrictor plate tracks. It's R & D that makes such a difference. And staying out of the BIG ONE.

Yea yea yea....
I heard the same junk when Jeff Gordon was dominating, NASCAR was "giving him secrets" or "giving him a pass in inspection"..... NASCAR wants good, young, drivers and their teams, I don't necessarily like the restrictor plates, but I understand the reasoning behind it, to try and keep the speeds manageble and keep the competition close. THAT's what brings the fan base, good close racing every weekend. NASCAR is not stupid enough to jeopardize what they have going to risk a scandal involving cheating on THEIR part.
Also, they are other drivers who do well on restrictor plate races, just like some drivers always do well on road courses or short tracks.
I'm not an Earnhardt fan at all, but geeez...... At least give the teams credit where they're due, instead of crying favoritism.
