Does it run yet?

It certainly does run . And sounds pretty good on the
stand too . With any luck , I should have the tower finished
and a drive shaft before the weekend . Then I'll give it a try
in the tank with the test wheel for my 350s and my optical tach .
I'll probably have to rejet it as the carb is off my 250
Bravo , a 30 mm butterfly style Kehein . The igniton is a
stock ET system with a worked over advance . Three good pulls
gets 140 lbs of compression . The foot plate is drilled for an OMC
A and Yamato 302 . The pipe is from a KX 125 . It hasn't been
changed with the exception of being cut , turned and rewelded
for routing . Since this was built entirely from junk parts and will
be run on gas , I'm not expecting 80 mph . If it will push my 20ss
55-60 , I'll be plenty satisfied . I'm thinking it should make 25-30
hp at 7500-8500 if everything couples up right . R-14 Will

Will350 - Are the engine parts in the first photo a 440 Yamaha sled engine?

The pieces are Polaris . Specifically : The cases are
340 L/C , the crank is a 340 air cooled ( the stroke is the same
as the 250 twin ) , the head , barrel and piston are 250 polaris .
The reason for using the L/C cases is because the labryth seal
between the cyls is cut in the cases ( note the crank ) and I used
one of the grooves to set the bottom seal . The CD ignition for the
34 pl will fit right on and it has a "built" in advance that pushes it
up a ton in the middle and backs it down at high rpm , A nice easy
up grade , depending on how this works .
The only real machine work on this was spinning the fins off to
make the water jacket and remachining the the head because it had
an offset squish in it . The jacket is a piece of sail boat mast .
I have a digital camera now so don't be too surprised at what
you see in the future like maybe an O-175 ( a legal RB too) among
other things

Well , I got Frankenstien in the tank last evening .
My test wheel is way too big , I need a gasket between
the foot and the tower and it's really rich .
But .......................IT LIVES ! ! ! ! ( and it sounds
like it's going run faily well once I lean it out and set-up
the timing some )
So the first thing is to build a new test wheel .

Got my test wheel done and did some tank time today .
( after Daytona of course )
After some jetting it comes up to 7300 at WOT and is nice
and crisp , and the plug looks about right . Since I can't seem to
find the fuel pump (yet) I fill the bowl through the vent and run it
that way . I was sort of suprised at how long it would run ( close to
2 minutes at very fast idle )
Two things came to light . 1 - I need a new carb spigot , and
2- I hope it's going to cool a liitle better when it's on a boat . It
gets a bit warmer in the tank than I'd like.
All in all , I'm pretty happy with it so far . A few details and I'll be ready
to do the boat thing with it . R-14 Will

Since it's a "loaner" I can't do anything strange or wierd to it
and .............it was originally built to run 48v so it's sort of heavy with
a wad of lift and .............. I've never run one of these so being
bizzaro with this is off the table . Now my Marchetti , on the other
hand is the perfect candidate for something totally off the wall.

Who needs a steering wheel? Just put a tiller handle on it and away you go! Or you could just hang on to the steering bar.
Either way looks like fun!
