When I was driving for Elmer back in around 79 or 80, Elmer and Nick Birbirie built a 125 yamaha, and we got a used pugh 125 to run it on. I painted it green and ran it 3 or 4 times. Could that be the boat? Everything of Elmers was green, and I think we even called it the green hornet. Just wondering.

I'm not sure Tim, Shakeshaft had the boat and everything of theirs was green also. Eric might be able to help

Could that be Mike Pumphrey? He had a C service on a green boat back whenever.

Pretty sure it's Henry Shakeshaft driving. This is the same boat Ian was running when the transom came loose at Camden

a C Circus:rolleyes:
It was'nt just an early Pugh, it was the Red Baron! Boat serial # 0004(if they would have #'s), pickel fork #2. Built in 1977, won 125cc championship and a heap more races. Powered by a König FM 125cc 12:15 gears and alot of handmade stuff. Gary was 17 years old then.

Oh yeah, I rememeber that one - sinker in the swamp on turn 2 exit! Fortunately, the rescue boat and tow boat beat the snakes to the scene :-)

Looks more like Hinton in 1977. Looks like a mountain in the background.

Pete didnt have that 125 boat at Hinton in '77. Also, I cropped the pic so I know what is not in the photo:p

Remember Henry and Shake had the two trailers, Unit 1 and 2. The Trailers and the boats used to have S.P.O.R.T. all over them.
Anyone remember what it means ?? Pretty easy actually ;)

One year at Winona, rather than go back to the pits and drink beer, I went out to dinner with George Andews Sr., Gibby and Shakey. Talk about some stories. Great people, I miss them.
