Hi

Are you guys in the US suffering the same problems as we are in Europe - difficulty in finding good big end bearings for the Konig/Konny style engines that are raced in the pro classes?

I'm told that the bearings from Konny are simply not up to the job and fail after a matter of heats rather than races...!

I understand that Steve Litzell does a good job of re-conditioning used bearings by re-cotaing the cages and inserting new needle rollers. Are you guys having to do this because, like us, you cannot locate any quality new bearings?

As well as Steve's name, Ed Thirlby has been mentioned as someone who may be able to help. I know that Ed has not been in the best of health recently and I don't want to hassle him if he (you) are all in the same boat as us (excuse the pun!)

I know a few of the guys are going to try and speak to Peter Konig to see if he can throw any light on where the bearings can be obtained, but I fear like many of the original Konig parts, these were made specifically for Dieter/Peter

Of course I will let you know of any info received from the Peter Konig route, but in the meantime if you have any details that may help us, it would be much appreciated

Regards

Corin

I would suggest contacting a place here in the U.S. called Applied Technolgies. I get all my bearings from them for the Mercs, and OMC's. They usually take a look at what you have, mic it up and get you one. Much cheaper than factory stuff, by a lot. I can't locate their number right now, maybe tonight when I get home.

They might ship to you accross seas, not sure. If not, I am willing to help if I am able to ship to you, that is if they can help you.

Anyone else have the number ? It used to be called Detroit Ball Bearing.

Try E-mailing Rex Hall. Rex builds a large amount of the Konny / Konig motors and cranks in the U.S. He is now the U.S. importer of the Rossi motors. You can find his address on the Formula 250 web site on the Rossi page.

Big Ed is fine, it was his son Eddie that is ill. If these to guys can't get big end bearings, they are not out there.

Good luck

I used to get ALL my bearings off Ed Thirlby. Great "Shirt off his back" kind of guy.

Try Steve Litzell, he is the Konny dealer in the US. Great guy to deal with also.
