This is my first time posting anything so I am excited. I have been reading the posts for about a month and I like what I see. It is tough to get through these cold Pullman days but reading about boat racing helps. I have a question about capsule training, I was wondering if someone had a schedule of when and where they happen? I want to get trained just incase someone needs a driver, I never want to have to turn down a capsule ride. Thanks for the info.

Hey Kevin, I am so excited to go racing again. I did get another engine so now I can have twice the fun. Kyle and I would love to come up but we don’t have any wheels. But if we can find some we would love to go but I will let you know. I think we should have a good class this year so I am excited. Are you guys going to the SOA party, I think it’s the 7th or so? Man, I counted twelve people for 350 in region ten this year!!! Thats a lot. I am going to be getting some older 350 and 500 Konigs to work on this year. I might run them with the Whidby Island guys if I can put them together and find a boat. They were John Weis' old engines now located somewhere North of Seattle. My Dad used to race 125 and he sold the engine tothe guy with the Konigs. Now, he is justo going to give the 125 back with all of the Konig powerheads and parts. Should be some fun projects:). Too bad I cant run them in APBA...

The APBA website frequently sends out a requests for clubs/regions to send their capsule training information to us so we can post all the times and places prior to the season.
A few have sent me this info, but not very many. Hopefullly more will come once the APBA Annual Meetings are through.
Go to www.apba-racing.com, and look on the NEWS page for a list of those clubs/regions who have sent them in so far. (Spring Meetings are here too)
Then go to the MEETINGS pages and choose the correct month. This will give you more details on these gatherings.
As more of these come in, I'll keep updating the list.

Hi Zach! I'm guessing the folks who'd know the capsule training schedule would be Sue or Terry Troxell. I think I remember Sues, but I'm sure I know Terry's...Try Troxilla@aol.com
What lane would you like at Kitsap?

OK...I'll do that next time. We experiment so much that I usually try to stay out of the way while I figure out what the latest set-up's doing.
Last year at Kitsap the Polaris was having fits and I thought I'd just run the "weed lane" while I tried to sort the motor out. So at the start I was running as far outside as I could get without a plow, and Zach still managed to run past me on the outside...I thought for a second that he'd painted the boat in KY jelly.
Winter's not bad except the arthritis is a little more noticeable...but the days are getting longer now and the goal is to be just mildly gimpy by May. I did clap studs on all four corners of the Ford though, because tossing chains on and off is a little tough on the hands. It seems to handle OK with them, but the noise is likely to finish the job on my ears that all those years of open stacks and pipes started. We really don't get that much snow but I still do routine warp-speed commutes to Canada. Actually I'm in Burnaby now, and just about to make the run south.

You Bet Mike!...But you're gonna have to duke with the rest of the taxis (How'd we get so MANY of these things?) My goal is not to let my testing get in the way of the serious folk.
Not too cold here...just the usual sloppy winter. The trip down from BC was uneventful except for winning the computer-driven inspection lottery at the border and having to turn up the wick some to make the time up.

John,
To clarify things, I was not saying you have ever been in the way. We like having you guys there, and on the water. I like looking at your motors, seems like everytime I see you and your brother, you have changed something on your motors.
Glad you are staying warm over there.

Now, now, now!...Don't sound so apologetic. I'm really in the boat to ensure there's a legal field and encourage folks to drag those dusty 350s out of the garage and play.
The race heats allow me to try different stuff. Sometimes I crank it on, and sometimes I run a little off pace...And sometimes the motor poops out and I get the best seat on the lake.
If I'm just out to test and not to win I think it's better and SAFER if I give folks room to run. If it helps any, Will's there to fly the test results, and probably won't give up his lane :-)
By the way local 350 racers, there might be room for outboards to run with inboards at Spanaway...Start nagging NOW!
