View Full Version : Lone Star Outboard Shootout of Somerville, Tx

It has come to my attention that concern has arisen regarding our race, and the likelihood of it happening.

Let me assure everyone the event is on schedule for May 7th and 8th and will be bigger and better than our first event in 2010. We have greater control over the lake this year so the delays caused by pleasure craft will be much less than our initial test run. I am still working with the promoter on a sponsorship amount of $2000.00 to be used as tow money to make our event an even better success. We will be holding the Shootout in conjunction with the Great Texas Sausage Festival on Lake Somerville www.burlesoncountytx.com/sausagefestival.htm and this promises to add tons of entertainment to our event with great food, and live bands all weekend.

I also want to thank a few people who are working hard to make this race a success. Gardner Miller, Dennis Crews, Mike Hauenstien, Jack Stotts, Dave Nichols, Dan Crummett, Will Hawkins, and the rest of LSORA.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the race in May.

Take care,

Dennis B

Well, if you are able to make one of our races, this would be the one to come to... since currently it is the only one we have scheduled, however there may be a Second location for us to look at.

Plan B is alright with me, I might even feed you once or twice.

Hmm, not so sure about Somerville Texas, but come to Dallas and spend a weekend.
More beautiful women in one place than I have ever seen in my life. I always heard the remarks about this, but passed it off as braggin' but I am a believer now.
I hit the Sushi bar on Fridays, which is at the entrance of North Park Mall in Dallas.
You will be amazed.

Course I am engaged to one of these lovely ladies now, and I am no longer allowed to look.... right lol

The people in the community of Somerville really, really want us there. This whole Sausage Festival is a huge event for them and they want us to be a big part of that. I hope the tow money motivates drivers to show up :trailer::trailer:as there will be several thousand people pass through the event during that weekend. Check out the website for the festival http://www.burlesoncountytx.com/sausagefestival.htm . We wont be the only races in town that weekend. There will be weenie-dog races too! Plus multiple live bands, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, a kite flying contest and all kinds of neat stuff.

This race is primed to be something that continues to grow and grow with even more community support if we put on any kind of show at all for these folks. I really believe the sky is the limit here.

If anyone needs a driver for ANY class at this race. As long as I'm there and am not already in it. I'll be for hire haha. So bring all the equipment you guys want. We can find ways of getting it on the water. I can't wait. I LOVED it last year. Will hopefully have a couple of memory cards for my helmet cam this time. That should save me from filming to a limit like last time haha.

P.S. I might not be the "best" choice driver to pick, but I sure promise to give any rig I'm asked to drive my best and try to bring the owners a first place. :) lol

Seriously I think that you could probably drive about anything that floats.

03-20-2011, 05:19 AM
Haha. That's the result of trying to dive to the inside of someone (Mark Daspit ;p) and them being smart enough to have already taken the nearest inside lane to the turn pin. Lol. That turn pin was later used as Mr. Mark's Sunday CSH victory reef haha. Good times :)

I dunno about ANYthing that floats. DON'T let me drive a turn boat or ANYthing other than a racing rig because oddly. I only do well in a small hydro or runabout. Haha.

Here are a couple of good "affordable" choices for motels in Brenham.

Roadway Inn - 979 836 1300 will take pets, but won't allow you to clamp your motors to the headboard to work on them. Prices well under $100.

Best Western - 979 251 7791 Easier to get to than the Roadway Inn, and a good little coffee shop next door, but gonna cost ya close to $100.

Lots of others in town priced a little higher, plus a bunch of B&B's and a nice antique hotel in Downtown Brenham.

If I can help, let me know.

I need to say...
Brenham is in a different County.

Typically, the money that a county uses to promote tourisim, festivals, etc. Come from hotel and motel tax.

So, the good will of the folks in Somerville, plus the money used to launch this festival, not to mention the tow money for this race, is coming from the business in the county.

Seems the right thing to do is support the people who support you.

I posted a couple of motels in Brenham, but racers should everything they can to book their lodging, buy their gas, and eat in the restaurants of the town they race in.

That would be the towns of Somerville and Caldwell.

That list is available on the festival web site posted on this thread.
