2 years before I started racing, but when you really look at it, the Babes, styles haven't changed that much. What, some of us were 17-20 years old at that time. Wow, now were the Ole farts!

That was some great video.............back when Mr. Hire was good looking. He was one of my heros growing up racing stocks. He and my Dad were good friends and it was always a pleasure to see him at a race..........becuase I never had to race against him. He was perfection in a BU......and would be the same today if he chose to be.

I was at this race, but remember so little. My parents always talk about having to evacuate the pits as the lake level rose very high and vry quickly following rains from a hurricaine. All got out safely and returned the next day. Really good quality footage.

Cool to see a piece of history.
But holy smokes...pack a lunch for 3 laps around that course. Looks like 1 1/2 mile laps.
Way bigger than the last times we ran there with the clock on the far side. And that was plenty big enough.

elvis was the king of rock and roll and stover was the king of bu. i watched him run that round chine bu and thought i should get one of those boat and run like stover. i soon found that there was only one stover. sold the boat to a gentleman from canada the following year and stuck to my hydros. thanks for all the great memories from the past 58 years of racing.

Could that be Eddie Joe Hrovatin at about 1:46? Eddie was from Milwaukee and ran BU, BSH and CU. I seem to remember him having a pair of pants like that. Perhaps Norm Schaub could confirm his identity for us. Lots of stories from that week in Hinton.

Chip...
Yes that is E.J. in that 1:46 frame. But I don't think he ever ran CU. As I recall, Peggy was crowned "Miss Pit" at that race. And that was when we took a jerry can of lemmies to the banquet.
The first photo is me presenting "Miss Pit" with her sash, and the second photo is "Miss Pit" with her "Royal Subject" (You). Those were the days.
