I was wondering what is the most popular and/or the best combination exhaust being used on the 102 and 302 mods?
I know Lee makes a great single pipe motor. The same type that Bob Wartinger has the kilo record with. I have only seen a couple two pipers, and I remember Bryan Payn's mega phone exhaust being very impressive as well.
Is there anyone still making the megaphone kit?
Anyone got one for sale?
Mike

Try Tim Snyder for megaphone exhaust. Tim's a member here.

Not in APBA. NBRA has 25 mod class that the 102 runs in and can use open megaphone. AOF has 102 mod class that can use open megaphone. Megaphones are not legal in AOF or NBRA for Yamatos running in C mod.

Mike, I am sure APBA does not allow any megaphone exhaust systems to newly added engines (like yamato's), because of the noise.
this is from pg 29 of the 2003 Mod Inspect Manual:
"tuned exhaust will be permitted provided the powerhead is not modified to accept the exhaust. Expansion chambers or "can" type pipes are allowed. Sliding or moveable exhaust systems are allowed. It is the intent of this rule to allow the alternate exhaust system without significantly increasing the noise of the motor"...

I was thinking back when Bryan Payn was running a megaphone on a 102, but that was an AOF race, not APBA. when I saw him run it in an APBA race, it was an the PRO nat's in the RB class, i'm sure that's why it was legal

Kevin, My 102 mod with megaphones is a motor that I built and then it was then made into a materpiece by RC Hawie. (my daughters Pop-Pop). Exhaust is a secret of Hustler. Motor is awesome, but RC says it would gain 2 mph with pipes. Have elbows for pipes but need Hustler to come up with another secret for them.
Kenny Krier wants me to change it to alcohol and keep runnng it in PR. Since I now only run this once a year at DePue, engine is for sale. Need to add to VRP 125 fund and to the SE/FE runabout fund and a new Bass lower unit for motor.
PS, all of my stock and mod equipment is now for sale. All engines (just sold 302), but 102 and or 202 for sale, Y80 engine. Sold all B1, 25 mod stuff. B and H boat and Krier boat now also on auction block. Also have another 102/c mod that needs work built by John Snell of Texas and very fast. Can call at:
319-560-6398 or 319-849-1170 or Terry at: 319-849-1022.
