OK West coast guy's what's the best airport to book a flight into for the Nationals in Oroville?

My son and I flew in to Reno to watch the kilos at Oraville a number of years ago. We got good rates to a gambling town and it was a beautiful ride over the mountains to get there. Probably not the closest place but the other things fit our needs well.

What would be fun would be fly to Reno(RNO) spend a couple of days then take Am Trac from Reno to Sac. $43/per. A Beautiful Train ride on the open upper deck. The train station is only about 10 miles to the Airport Taxi about $25.00. Rent auto at SMF and then drive to Oroville about 60 miles. Return auto to SMF and fly home. Train ride is not that expensive
or Fly into RNO and rent auto tool around Lake Tahoe then drive to Oroville. Return auto either Reno or SMF.
