Which classes have a lot of entries nationwide?
C stock hydro for sure. C stock runabout also ???
Any other stock classes?
What about Mod and PRO?
I think 44 mod hydro is a fairly popular class nationwide... (I hope so. I'm boxing up some parts that are making a trip "out west".)
(Now that the PROs (Title Series) are running at Alex again, I sure would like to have a 250 hydro... Is that a big class?)

There will always be some 250's racing in Region 5.
BUT..........If I were you, living where you live, I'd look into a 125.
Now, if it were ME, and it was a 125 I was buying.........The 1st thing I'd be looking into is a weight loss program !! :D :D

Weight is one reason I'd never consider a 125. Besides, if I got into a PRO class I want it to be faster than the mods I'm racing now.

I'm just too big for them too.
Ask around...........Most of the guys I see running 250's are little fellas as well. When I was running 350's, I really had to haul my butt back in the boat to get it to float at all.
I'm 6' 4" ( And shrinking ) 220 Lbs. ( And Gaining ! )

Stock: ASH/20SSH/CSH/CSR
Mod: DMH/FEH
Pro: 125/350
now, some classes are really starting to grow, but alot of them are region based it seems......
AXSH/ASXR
25MH
CMH/CMR
FER
now, David, most of these classes are too slow for you, plus, you are a "little" too big for most of em..........:D :D , EXCEPT a "few"....

From what I have seen the last two seasons, the PRO classes with consistently the most participants are 125ccH, 250ccH, 250ccR and 500ccR. Also, OSY400 in many parts of the country. 250 hydro had 25 entires at the USTS Constantine race in 2002!
125 Hydro has grown like crazy and it sounds like it will spread around the country in the coming year. 250 hydro and runabouts are well supported on the East Coast and in the Midwest. You can almost always find a good 250 race in Florida. 500 Runabout is big in the Midwest and California. Great racing here with Konigs, Konneys, Yamato's, Rossi's and VRP's all winning races in the past 2 seasons.
While it certainly helps with acceleration, you do not have to be a feather to run either 250 or 350. The new engines have low-end punch and the new boats are light.
Look for the 350 class particpation to increase dramatically in 2004 with the arrival of the VRP 350 in good numbers. The Rossi 350 is an incredible performer, but very few racers seem willing to deal with it (weight, complicated, other?????). The 2 cylinder VRP is light and fairly straightforward to work on. And it is fast!!!
350 particpation was up and down over the last 2 years. Some races had full fields while other races could hardly field 4 boats. This should improve in 2004.
