My Z-Craft runabout is 12'3" also. I run C-Mod on it. It was built in 2000 for a guy on the west coast to run a 44 in the kilos on. I've never had a 44 on it. I don't think I would want to try it.

Keith, Donnie Morris runs a Dmod on his 12'3" CSR with no problem. There is another guy out here to (Cali) that does it also, but cannot remember his name.....

The lenght of a runabout is the least of things to worry about.
I have run D stock 55H motors on 12ft, 12 1/2ft , 13 ft and 13 1/2ft boats as well as C stock, 302's , 102's and 30H on a variety of lenghts.

What you need to look at is the width of the bottom for one. If you notice, pro guys are running narrow bottoms like 24". Why? because with all the power a wide boat will act like a wing and send you to the moon. Also, with lots of power you can't have a ton of lift in the boat. Another thing is how the weight is distributed. If you notice a lot of guys have a hatch in the deck of the boat where they can actually add lead in the nose to help effect the trim in the boat. Offshore guys do this with ballast tanks.

Another concern is the propeller, for instance, a high rake prop is going to lift the boat. Even the lower unit can effect the boat based on the shape and size.

So, can you run the boat with a D mod? I don't know until you take a real good look at what you got and it depends a lot on how good your motor is.
